I think we can all agree that 2020 will always have a special asterisk next to it when referencing history. What a year! Covid19 confined most of us to our homes for extended periods of time. If you’re like me those extra days and weeks sitting with myself holdup from the rest of the world invited a heightened level of scrutiny to the things around my home. I figured since I’m having to spend so much time at home that I might as well make the best of it. Here are 5 home improvements projects you can do yourself.
Update lighting: The first is replacing old light fixtures. For my project I replaced hanging track lighting with recessed canned lighting. There were no ceiling fans, so my friend and I replaced the lighting in the living room and bedrooms with ceiling fans that had nice lighting. Pendant lighting was added to my sunroom and a chandelier in the dining room. Paying attention to details was key so I also changed out all the light switch plates to add more appeal.
Kitchen Backsplash: Update your kitchen with a nice hint of color by adding a nice backsplash. This can be fun and affordable! If you are indecisive or get bored easily, another option would be vinyl peel and stick this way you don’t have to be stuck and it takes less than a day. Another option could be to just paint the wall or existing tile of the backsplash to add a pop of color. You might also consider adding beadboard its inexpensive and you don’t have to remove existing tile it can be applied on top of it. There are so many creative ways to update your backsplash, the possibilities are limitless. Tap into your creative side and get busy I am sure you will not be disappointed in the finished project
