Although we may be tempted to blame it on the holidays, our work, or any number of things, some of us can’t help but experience stress in most aspects of our lives. Whether with work, the kids, or money, there always seems to be something that gets us wound up in our daily lives. When it comes to managing our stress, meditation has been a time-tested stress reducer. And the best thing about meditation? It is free! Once you decide to take out a few moments for yourself, put some of these tried-and-true meditations for stress reduction to the test. You’ll feel lighter and much less stressed afterwards.



Chocolate Meditation

What can’t chocolate do? Mediating with chocolate really is quite simple. You’ll start by relaxing with a small piece of chocolate. Take some time to smell it and admire it. Give it a little bite. Think about the flavor and sensation that comes along with eating this magical confection. After you refocus on the present, don’t forget to reflect back on that feeling throughout the rest of your day. You’ll feel much more at peace with your present being.

Music Therapy

Never underestimate the power of hearing your favorite songs. Music can touch us on so many levels. Not only does it affect us emotionally, but did you know it also affects our physiology? It can improve our memory and help us manage pain. Some songs can provide us with motivation, and others can calm us down. Whether it’s calming classics or classic rock, relax with your favorite tunes to create an experience that calms and soothes.

Mindfulness Meditation

When we make an active attempt to increase awareness of the present moment in which we’re living, it ensures that we’re not using that time to think about what is stressing us out in the first place. It can be done almost anywhere, and it is proven to bring long-lasting benefits. It’s simple and easy to learn. Just remain present and allow yourself to live in your moment.

Bathing Meditation

Take the time to rest both your mind and your body. Bathing mediation will require you to take at least 15 minutes to yourself. Run yourself a warm bath and add your favorite scents in the form of oils, salts, or bubbles. While soaking the stress away, focus on breathing as you inhale the relaxing fragrances. Lavender and peppermint work great for calming the mind and the muscles.

Metta Meditation

The goal of Metta Meditation is to grow feelings of love and kindness towards not only people but things as well. That includes growing these loving feelings towards those very things that may be the cause of your stress. While taking deep breaths, take the time to send messages of kindness into the universe. This practice will help you to grow feelings of compassion and love not only for others but for yourself as well.

No matter where your stress stems from there a several remedies to relieve it. These are only some of which that I have found to be useful. You can scour the internet for several more I’m sure but these 5 are tried and true. I always feel much lighter and more present after utilizing these meditations.
