The fact of the matter is this; a fully staffed business is usually one that’s making a good bit of money in order to offset the expense of doing so. Conventional wisdom is to start out small, work five times harder, be creative, resourceful, and the list goes on. I want to be clear that I am not opposed to the conventional mode of thought common in response to this subject. However, I would like to invite you to consider an additional perspective, one that puts you ahead of the game in so many ways as I will demonstrate below.
If you’re like me, you are driven and feel empowered to really go after what you want, and more specifically, go after it yourself – because who else better for the task, right?
Being smart or talented is definitely a gift that not everyone shares unfortunately, but just because you’re one or both of those things doesn’t mean that they will always pan out as an advantage in your life. In fact, it can be quite the opposite, relying too heavily on innate gifts while neglecting other potential resources. I’m willing to bet that after a while you have become overwhelmed by the role of superman or superwoman. Doing every single thing on your own instead of finding effective ways to allocate your daily tasks as a means of increasing your efficiency.
If so, I would like to welcome you to an alternative approach to growing your business. You see, what you most likely have is an economic problem, not to be confused with a financial one. You’re simply not managing the allocation of your resources, or potential resources, properly.
So…your website is all setup and fully functional, not to mention looks absolutely amazing. You’ve identified the perfect software to manage your accounting needs, EIN number secured along with a business license, among other things.
Let’s talk about how you can start working smarter rather than harder, and fully staff your operation while scaling like it nobody’s business.
The resource that I would like to discuss is Fiverr. Maybe you’ve heard of it, maybe you haven’t, either way it doesn’t matter if you aren’t taking advantage of what this amazing platform has to offer. Of course there are other sites available such as Upwork, Guru and Toptal, to name a few. I should mention that I did not start with Fiverr, I first used Upwork and after several months moved on to Guru. I decided not to go that route as it was pretty much the same as Upwork. I wasn’t exactly flattered by Upwork’s approach, I was seemingly going to have to shell out a lot more money, as I would learn later, compared to Fiverr in order to meet my staffing needs.
That’s when I decided to give Fiverr a shot. Now, I should mention that I am a Fiverr affiliate, but more importantly I am a happy customer.
My first job post on Fiverr was similar to my Upwork and Guru experience, dozens of hungry freelancers putting in their bids to win my business. The reason I prefer Fiverr is simply this, my experience was much better from top to bottom – and by that I am referring to the culture of the site and the freelancer’s strict adherence to Fiverr’s policies, to the ease in which we were able to negotiate pay.
Furthermore, Fiverr has done well in creating a seamless review system that allows you to quickly and easily determine a candidate’s qualifications and attributes. You will notice that most of their freelancers are rated highly, which was surprising to me at first but quickly became obvious. Fiverr’s program was setup with production in mind, not mention the amazing talent they attract.
I was in the market for a team of 4 consisting of an Accountant, Videographer, Administrative Assistant and Social Media Marketing Specialist. Each were to work a total of 4 hours per day, 3 days per week and 4 weeks per month. My total cost to maintain my staff was just at $500 per month, or $497 to be exact.
The difference this made in my productivity was night and day. The impact was an immediate multiplying of my efforts. I was scaling faster than I ever could ever achieve on my own.
If your concern is the $500 per month, I hear you, but I urge you to consider the investment, you will begin making enough money to cover that expense before you know it. This assuming that your operation is setup to do so, but then again, your new staff members may be the ones to help you figure that out! You could also get started with just 2 employees and expand as you are financially able to.
I would like to wish you all the best and good luck assembling your dream team.
See you at the top!
