We are currently living in some of the most trying times ever! The Covid-19 Pandemic is real but that doesn’t mean you can’t practice social distancing and wear your mask to get out and have a little fun! Atlanta has been deemed wide open by other cities across the country and we are offering places to sit back, chill and enjoy a drink or two!
I’ve handpicked each of the locations below based off of my own personal experience, and vouch for the quality and overall safety each practice. Each location below as its own unique vibe. Grab your mask and party shoes and go have some fun!
1. Après Diem is an international bistro serving great food, espresso drinks, boozy coffee, and amazing rotating desserts. They have a full bar serving variety of cocktails and the bartenders are very creative if you don’t see something on the menu you are interested in. Après Diem also has a cozy lounge that offers comfortable seating and a communal table however during Covid-19 they have restricted the access to keep everyone safe especially their servers. Don’t worry though they have heated patios and local DJ’s spinning nightly to create an intimate vibe. Après Diem also showcases local art for purchase or just to take in the beauty of what it has to offer.
2. Agave is an Atlanta mainstay that offers some of the best southwestern food you have had. If you are in the mood for a great cocktail or some of the world’s finest tequila I would recommend you stop in and have a seat at the bar where you can see the cooks preparing small plates and meals. There is a fireplace that creates a nice cozy setting if you decide to have dinner. Lisa one of the longstanding bartenders always makes her guest feel welcomed and you are sure to enjoy one of their famous margaritas! My personal favorite is a bit of a spin on a mango jalapeño margarita on their menu. Leave it to Lisa she will ensure you have a great night sipping and snacking on their house made chips and salsa. The bar has limited seating due to Covid-19, but they have set up the front dining area to accommodate patrons at high tops.
3. Gypsy Kitchen - This rooftop patio is everything you need to enjoy a few cocktails and take in the beautiful views of Buckhead. Spanish Tapas and a wine list to die for, you must check this place out. The inside has a modern décor, but you will want to enjoy the outdoor seating as they offer heat lamps and fire pits on chilly nights in the city! The staff is attentive and friendly, so it makes it easy to stay for a while.
4. Little Alley Steakhouse - I know what your thinking but believe it or not this place has an amazing outdoor patio with a DJ during the warmer months and a fire pits and an enclosed bar area during the chillier nights in the city. Music plays in the background the bartenders and servers make sure you don’t go unnoticed. Every Friday night the patio is buzzing with laughter and sexy people. They bar has an extensive wine and bourbon list. They make custom cocktails and martinis. The classic old fashion has been popular along with dirty martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives my favorite.
5. James Room
- A hideaway located right off the Atlanta Beltline. You have a delicious bakery and café however when you enter through a side door it unlocks a space where you can relax and enjoy great craft cocktails, good music, and atmosphere. The lounge creates a sexy vibe where you and your friends can gather and listen to smooth sounds and engage in great conversation. They have mixologist that create cocktails to entice all your senses. Small bites if you get hungry but you will be so intrigued with the beauty and taste of your cocktails. Liquid gold, antique rose gold cups and fresh herbs always make for something special to sip on.
6. Red Phone Booth - An Atlanta prohibition experience that has an element of secrecy that is in the iconic Dailey’s building downtown. You must be a member or given the secret passcode to enter through a London style antique phone booth, hence the name. If you are visiting Atlanta the concierge of the local hotels in the area will provide you with the code to enter. Once inside they have an extensive cigar selection and a plethora of craft cocktails. They offer small slates and gives you the vibes of an old school gentleman’s club. You must have their infamous smoked old fashion. The secrecy of it all continues to intrigue.
7. Nouveau Bar & Grill - This new hidden gem located in downtown College Park near the airport offers happy hour and karaoke. They have an extensive menu and a DJ. You can drop in for a quick cocktail or brunch because its always a party when good food, music and drinks are involved. I like this place for a Saturday afternoon kickback because sometimes you don’t want to wait for the sun to set to have a good time. The staff is friendly and accommodating .
8. The Regent Cocktail Club - This rooftop is located above American Cut on the top floor. The Regent gives you the feel of another speakeasy as you catch the elevator to the 3rd floor when the doors open you walking into an open space that offers plush interiors , craft cocktails and an amazing view of Buckhead. There is music playing in the background that immediately helps you create a vibe. They feature live music and small plates of tasty treats. The space has limited seating but plenty of standing room inside and the terrace with seating and if you get there at the right time you can watch an amazing sunset.
9. Three Sheets - A sexy lounge with a rooftop to match is where you want to go because there is always something happening! Whether you are sharing small plates or whispering sweet nothings in your dates ear on the comfy velvety couches. Three Sheets has something to offer for a girl’s night out or hanging with the fellas. House DJ’s spin until late offering a vibe for all. They also feature live music that you can listen to from the rooftop or inside. Three Sheets has several private rooms and the décor screams sexy this place is also unique in the fact they offer grilled cheese and wine pairings! The grilled cheese sandwiches are gourmet deliciousness!
10. Vesper Bar - New to the scene this James Bond inspired lounge is located in Glenwood Park the cocktail menu reads like a movie bill for James Bond with names like the “Casino Royale” or the “Man with the Golden Gun”. You can meet friends for a few swanky cocktails and nibble on small bites or just hang out in this retro furnished lounge where you will make a few new friends. This lounge offers class and distinction the things that are characteristic of James Bond himself. Remember in the movie Casino Royale when he ordered a Vesper he would always provide strict instructions to the bartender. Bond would say: “Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. I think you will be okay if you just ask for the drink by name!
What I like most about the lounges listed above is that they, more times than not, under promise and over deliver. Good Luck and have a wonderful time!
